SINAI
A walk amidst faith and amazement.
DINO CAPPELLETTI
Climbing Mount Sinai by night is an experience that leaves its mark on whoever completes the task. Following the path for three hours, side by side with “faithful” and inquisitive people from all over the world, in many cases elderly people, who have great difficulty facing the adventurous climb up the Mountain of Moses, proves that man is continually searching for the truth, for a tangible sign of God’s existence.
Waiting for sunrise, at over 2000 metres above sea level, with temperatures often prohibitive, is a test of strength.
Sunrise, at that altitude, has a taste, a fragrance, a unique profoundness, it’s as though a divine light passes through your body, giving you strength and vitality, courage and awareness, cancelling the tiredness accumulated during the climb, and giving you the stamina to face the equally arduous descent to reach St. Catherine’s Monastery at the foot of the mountain, which jealously houses “signs of the faith” such as the well where Moses encountered Sarah and the “Burning Bush”.
The photos displayed here, try to capture some of these precious moments and express these emotions.
